Beach-Themed Summer Season Table

For our summer season table this year the children decided on a beach theme.

We’ve used silk playcloths and felt to represent the sea and sand, and added a variety of shells from our collection.

The wooden characters are by Ostheimer, and the girls needle felted the little people you can see in the sailing boat.

The miniature sand castles were made from a moldable sand (a little like Moon Sand) and the flags made from scraps of fabric and whittled sticks.

So gorgeous. Where did you find that amazing wood background you have?

Thank you both for your kind comments.
Diana, the wooden season decoration we purchased from De Noest

Wow! When you said ‘summer season table’ I admit I feared it would be one of those American-style posts where you dress up bits of your house for all seasons. ‘Valentine’s table’ anyone? ‘Fall themed wreath’? etc.
This is much better. Am very in awe of Waldorf stuff. It makes my house look very plastic filled!

Thank you! I see what you mean about the wording, I confess I hadn’t considered that. This display is really the nature table, and it does acquire more nature items as we get further into the particular season.

We’re still very new to Waldorf, and have only adopted elements into our routine and home life at present, but it’s proved very interesting so far. We still have other, more mainstream and traditional, toys in other areas of the home. Although, we decided not to remove the lego bricks, they’re still in the playroom and very much used (and invaluable too, in creative learning, we thought).

I tried to order from De Noest but have not heard back from them…do you know if they ship to the USA?

    • Sadie says:

It would appear that De Noest will ship to the US, you can check by adding an item to your basket then selecting the destination country in the shipping options.
(Disclaimer; I’m not connected to De Noest)

  5. Ahhh, it’s beauitul and you’ll have so much fun adding to it over the next few months. I love the silhouette background too.

  6. Not sure if my previous comment posted – anyway, just had a look at the De Noest site and it’s lovely. Love the seasons lamp and it’s now on my list!
